About Cate

Cate has been a full-time illustrator since 2011 and has illustrated over 50 books for publishers in Australia, the UK and US. She studied Printmaking for a Bachelor of Art degree and Illustration for a Master of Design, both at Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland.

When she’s not drawing and writing for children's books, she likes to find different ways to be an artist. She is a printmaker, a lecturer and technician at UNSW, volunteers at the Children’s Hospital School at Westmead, and visits schools all over NSW to talk about books.

Cate also writes stories and is working on a book about a under-represented aquatic creature for 2028!

For her illustration work, Cate was awarded the 2026 CBCA Shadow Judging Picture Book of the Year, and the Penguin Random House Illustrators’ Showcase Award in 2019.
